If two fight for happiness,
Can it really be attained?
Is happiness war’s casualty?
When love’s battles wage, can love sustain?
In speaking upon a moment’s ears,
Will lurking dread ring true?
It’s hard to see through burning tears, The line drawn tween me and you,
Strength both protects, and sets apart,Stubborn lovers waging war,
A wall erects, stone by stone,
Till lovers visible, no more,
Divided, each is peaceful,
They find no cause to take a stand,
No grandiose proclamation,
No gesture, small, nor grand,
Each is badly beaten,
And no victor can be hailed,
No contestant cheers in celebration,
When they see how love has failed.
